چکیده

Abstract The study was conducted to investigate the feasibility of sodium aluminate activation nonferrous waste foundry sand. aim solidify sand via geopolymerisation into useful civil engineering materials. Green mixed with make a paste which filled 50 × mm 3 mold. mixture cured in an oven for 5 days. concentration aluminate, granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) : (WFS) ratio, liquid solid ratio (L/S) and temperature were varied respectively establish optimum curing conditions. results indicated that has high potential be used as alkaline activator synthesis WFS geopolymers. geopolymer prepared 6 M yielded highest UCS 3.59 MPa after days did not meet minimum requirements ASTM C34-13, C129-14a South African standard (SANS227: 2007). addition GBFS mix design enhanced mechanical strength modified 50% GBFS, 4M L/S 0.15 at 80°C 10.57 MPa. met also show a, ability valorise reduce building material problems, while providing construction industry inexpensive new raw less CO 2 emissions.

Pulmonary fibrosis in non-ferrous foundry workers.

Much has been written about fume fever (brass caster's ague, zinc chills, zinc shakes), and lead poisoning in brass foundries has been dealt with recently by Stalker (1947) and Hamlin and Weber (1947), but the references to pulmonary fibrosis amongst non-ferrous foundry workers are few. Stalker wrote that " the incidence of advanced silicosis has been generally low among [brass] foundrymen ". M...

Recycling of iron foundry sand and glass waste as raw material for production of whiteware.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the production feasibility of triaxial whiteware using sand from cast iron moulds as a raw material instead of silica, and recycled glass in place of feldspar. Formulations were prepared using sand, glass waste, and white-firing clay such that only 50% of the composition was virgin material (clay). The ceramic bodies were formed by pressing and fired at...

Effect of compost-, sand-, or gypsum-amended waste foundry sands on turfgrass yield and nutrient content.

To prevent the 7 to 11 million metric tons of waste foundry sand (WFS) produced annually in the USA from entering landfills, current research is focused on the reuse of WFSs as soil amendments. The effects of different WFS-containing amendments on turfgrass growth and nutrient content were tested by planting perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) and tall fescue (Schedonorus phoenix (Scop.) Hol...

Removal of copper ions from contaminated groundwater using waste foundry sand as permeable reactive barrier

Computer solutions Multiphysics 3.5a software was used for simulating the two-dimensional copper migration including sorption process through the saturated zone of the soil in the presence of permeable reactive barrier for equilibrium condition. The 1:3 mixture of waste foundry sand and Kerbala’s sand was used as filling material for this barrier. The waste foundry sand was represented the reac...

Analysis of total metals in waste molding and core sands from ferrous and non-ferrous foundries.

Waste molding and core sands from the foundry industry are successfully being used around the world in geotechnical and soil-related applications. Although waste foundry sands (WFSs) are generally not hazardous in nature, relevant data is currently not available in Argentina. This study aimed to quantify metals in waste molding and core sands from foundries using a variety of metal-binder combi...
